Matthew felt God’s clear call into ministry during his junior year of high school in southern California. At age 17 he went to Calvary Chapel School of Evangelism and then worked for a Christian youth camp in Tyler, Texas. After that he studied at Calvary Bible College in Murrieta, CA while ministering three times a week in the children’s and teen ministries of a local church. During that time he went on several outreach trips to Mexico where God burdened his heart for missions. This led to a two year internship at Calvary Chapel’s missions-focused CC Bible College in Austria. While there he ministered to college-aged students by teaching classes, doing practical ministry and leading outreach teams all over Europe.
It was during a mission trip to Scotland that God called Matthew to be a missionary there. In 2001, at the age of 23, he followed God’s call to plant a Calvary Chapel church in Glasgow, Scotland. After serving there for three years God brought Matthew an amazing wife from Alabama. Matthew and his wife Jenny then served the Lord together in Scotland for seven more years. During that time they had two wonderful girls, Scarlet and Eden. In 2011 God raised up a Scottish couple to take over the church in Glasgow and called Matthew and Jenny to join the staff of a Calvary Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia in 2012. After serving there for two and a half years God called Matthew and Jenny to plant a new church in Pasadena, Texas.
Women’s Ministry and Children’s Ministry Director
Jenny grew up on a farm in rural Alabama and then worked for a national youth camp ministry called TeenPact Leadership School during high school and college. She spent every summer doing missions in a different country for ten years in a row before meeting and marrying Matthew, who was already pastoring in Glasgow, Scotland. Jenny loves serving as a pastor’s wife, as she got to do in Glasgow for seven years, then Atlanta for two and a half, and now in planting a new church in Pasadena. She loves studying and teaching God’s Word to women and children as well as homeschooling her own two girls, Scarlet, 5 and Eden, 3. Jenny is thrilled to be living for Christ in Pasadena!
Kolsen was raised in Utah, he later attended Calvary Chapel Bible Collge in Murrieta California. It was here that the Lord grabbed ahold of his heart and taught him the beginnings of what it meant to truly worship the Lord in Spirit and truth. While learning musical skills he also graduated with a degree in Theology, and began leading fellow believers in musical worship while serving as an intern with the college. Kolsen was introduced to Matthew near the end of his internship, and a few short months later, decided to join in the ministry at Cross Connection Church Houston where he now serves with a joyful heart and a joyful noise, alongside his love, Joy.
